Intuitive Revelation – 7 years ago Usually, I never let strange things get the better of me until that quirky day. An aversion for watches grew and I had developed the habit of checking the time in my mobile. On that day, I was gaily walking towards my college canteen. A bystander stopped me short and asked “What is the time, please?” Quarter past ten! “10:10” I said. After receiving a ‘thanks’, I went on to have a nice and strong coffee. Walking back to my class room, I noticed the library was deserted; so I walked straight in for a quick read. Interestingly, I found a travel book on Germany and I was engrossed in it. Source - Clip Art What is big data? In layman’s terms - big data refers to our ability to collect and analyze the vast amounts of data we are now generating in the world. The ability to harness the ever-expanding amounts of data is completely transforming our ability to understand the world and everything within it. The advances in analyzing big data allow us to do things which were unimaginable decades ago -   decode human DNA in minutes, find cures for cancer, accurately predict human behavior, foil terrorist attacks, pinpoint marketing efforts and prevent diseases. What Big Data reminds me of? It reminds me of a futuristic scary movie ‘the eagle eye’. I watched the movie a while back and thought, darn, this could be the end of human race.
