The Boomerang - A walk to remember - Blue Mountains

A mountain trip such as this is worth it even when the rain gods shower their unconditional love upon you, right when you are out in the open and running for cover isn’t a cool option in the woods, don't you think? Let’s ride into the memory lane of one of the best mountain trips I have had till date – The Katoomba - Blue Mountains. I feel incredibly fortunate to have realized this dream, the dream of travelling and my love for sharing it is as contagious. So, join me folkies, I am confident that you will enjoy this journey. Before we go on, I would like you to meet Kat and Oomba who made my trip particularly interesting with their sublime humor . We were here - We started walking from the Katoomba station to the echo point to experience the scenic extravaganza A random picture clicked on our way to the Blue Mountains   The long roads are a pleasurable sight and sight only, the walk was quite a trek in itself    A...

The Boomerang - Meet Kat and Oomba from the Blue mountains

The cheery bunch started off after having buttered raisin toast and piping hot mocha for brunch to Katoomba – The Blue mountains for a Sunday trip. Sunshine was seeping through the clouds as we made our way to the mountains... here is a glimpse of our day trip to the easily accessible, soothingly beautiful and a blue-y paradise near Sydney in New South Wales. "I am KAT and he is OOMBA" said the gentleman in green shirt. I don't know their real names but that moment is framed and kept safe in my memory attic and I am so glad they posed for me :)                             We were on our way to witness the beauty of the Blue Mountains and also to catch sight of the much talked about, legendary, 3 sisters . The mighty tall trees which almost gave shade to the next s...

The Boomerang - Cahill Walk - A Perfect Weekday Getaway

Sydney is glorious during spring and I sure made the most of it. On a pleasant day in the spring of 2011, after a quick brunch at home, I headed over to circular Quay to see the Opera House for the umpteenth time. Not that I was bored or something; Opera house always offered something new every time I visited, so with high hopes and some chips to munch on, I marched towards the Burwood station, to hop on to the metro. When I got down at the Circular quay station, I quickly looked for my coffee spot and had my dose of caffeine for that hour. Travelling alone has its own perks, you get to hop in and hop off anytime , anywhere you like, you can drink coffee all the time, you can doze off   in the metro not knowing you missed your stop and the list goes on . Why, wouldn't you? Enticed by the majestic view of the Opera house, again, I fell in love with Sydney . This time around, I wanted to keep walking, all the way to get to see the other side of the view. So,...

The Boomerang - Of Awes and Gnaws

Awes and gnaws – this is exactly how I’d describe my time spent in Sydney. I always reckon it is not the place you live that matter, it is the people around you that do. Some people just fit tactically in your life when you badly need them like a missing puzzle piece found. They are not your friends, not your relatives, not even people you meet at work every day. They are strangers waiting to make that moment of yours memorable. A few people I met in the lil’ old granny flat in Burwood made it an unforgettable stay for me in Sydney for which I am eternally grateful. The experience was not all that pleasurable in the beginning, I turned out to be home sick which I thought I’d never be, I turned out to be not-so-social which I believed otherwise and it turned out I am Hemophobic. The Opera House - In Sepia   One particular summer day, when I was getting used to my flat (which is a small room with an attached bathroom), I heard someone knock my door. I thought...

The Boomerang - Japanese connection

I know I have told you enough about the tantrums world throws on a vegetarian; but eating a spoonful of wasabi was just the beginning. Japan is a country I admire for things like perseverance, technology and innovation. One thing about Japan that makes me show a ‘monkey–face’ is food. When I say ‘Japanese Food’, what comes to you mind? When I landed in a foreign country, I had a very open mind , free of inhibitions . My friends were alike which made it all the more fun. We were a ‘foodie-gang’ who never hesitated to travel miles and miles to get a nice cup of coffee and banana bread. The German Bakery was one such. It wasn’t limited to coffee though; we wanted to try that one thing which people go gaga over, that one thing which is so popular around the world – Sushi . I was not certain there is a vegetarian version of Sushi until one of my friends mentioned it. She was so excited to tell me about Sushi and its health benefits and how yummy it tasted. She also ...
