Why should Kanna keep calm?

Cricket just got better! Activity by starsports.com in association with BlogAdda.com

I hope you read about my ramblings on the schmaltzy emotion which cricket is. Although IPL and T20 cricket lack the depth that test matches have, it kind of spruces up the kid in you, makes you want to watch more of it and makes you want to watch it all the time.
I am warning you, this post could be a whacky one, at least for people who worship cricket and cricketers and anything related to the game. Jinxed, tabooed and Mythical, there in three words you have a description of what the game did to me.

Here is why *Kanna should keep calm:

*I am referring to myself when I say 'Kanna' here ;)

  1. Keeping your fingers crossed until they grew numb and waiting for your favorite side to win
  2. Walk out on a decisive match for the fear of your favorite team losing just because you are watching the game
  3. Giving up on your favorite shows and soap operas to watch a game of good cricket
  4. Learning to whistle - it is one of the essentials of any cricket fan, especially a CSK one
  5. Keeping the television volume on mute so that the commentator doesn’t spoil the moment for you
  6. ‘Howzat’, ‘Bowling’, ‘in the air’ – These would be words that make you cringe
  7. Using every rounded object in the house as a ball and trying to mock those scary bowlers (Steyn and Malinga)
  8. Keep a stiff upper lip when your favorite team loses
  9. Feeling proud to know what a ‘sticky wicket’ actually means
  10. Lifting your legs up when the scoreboard says '111' and not putting it down until either the batsman gets out or he scores another run

After having read the disclaimer in the beginning of this post, you shouldn’t be surprised now. Here is another isolated fact that will bowl you over. Believe it or not, I have gone to the extent of being extremely judgmental about Ravi Shastri as a commentator as every time my favorite team lost, it was under this circumstance. It is undeniably true, at least in my case, no offense meant to him, but it is true. He is in this alone, I suppose. Sanjay Manjraker is a doll, trust me.

Well folks, I don’t quite know if you’d bat for my views but one thing is for sure, none of these obsessive jinxes and myths matter when it comes to the sheer pleasure of watching good cricket on Starsports.com. It is the television that is jinxed!

IPL is on and we see such inimitably competitive spirit amongst the players and teams which makes us wanting for more. StarSports.com gives us just that ‘extra’ edge with their innovative polls, the’ keep calm’ moments, and interesting stories brewing fresh from the field. The coolest feature for me is the deferred live streaming. Amidst the power cuts and thunder strikes, this feature is nothing but a boon for me.

So, with StarSports.com, all one has to do is keep calm and watch cricket!

A life without pencil erasers?

This morning, I got a good dose of philosophy from the newspaper. It isn’t very often that you get to read unique articles and this particular one definitely made my Friday morning a thoughtful one. It was the ‘World View’ column with the title “Pencil Erasers may be the ‘devil’” that caught my attention. It got me thinking about the process of unlearning taught to us at school. A lot of questions popped up. Why do we hide our mistakes? Why isn’t it okay to make mistakes? Why are we taught to make up for a mistake? Why aren’t we taught to look at the mistake and learn from it? Why do we erase a mistake? Why aren’t we being naturally ourselves? Why do we need an eraser? The last question is what instigated me to write this post. What if Edward Nairne had not invented an eraser by accident? What if we were never introduced to the concept of the eraser at school! I should admit that the little wad of rubber that undoes all the mistakes made by your mighty pencil is inde...

Make Up and Me (Not Me)

They say people who don't know to dance have two left feet. Although, I might have two left feet myself, what is more interesting is I might actually have two left hands. Okay, I understand that's funny but here is why: If you are a girl or a boy or a boy who looks like a girl, you would probably know that it is a thing now to have a makeup blog or vlog or youtube channel in your name. I bumped into this world of cosmetics, beauty blogs and tutorials only a few months ago. For those who don't know about it, let me tell you, it is a crazy, ruthless and unbelievable world. Picture sourced from Google Heard of these? Snail slime masks, Placenta hair masks, Seaweed bathing creams, Microblading.... and endless other such insane stuff. These are insane but quite popular among beauty enthusiasts and they even swear by the benefits of such products. These are otherwise cringe-worthy products in my world. I use gramflour+tumeric face mask, Coconut oil hair mask and  a...

Ever Yours, Vincent.

Never in a thousand years did I think I would be obsessed with a late, delusional psycho who was also an exceptional artist and a noteworthy character with a peculiar interest for romance. My affair started around 8 years back; a time when I had started writing and blogging for the first time. I visited this pop-up museum of contemporary art which showcased Vincent Van Gogh’s choicest documentaries. Many of his famous paintings were also on display. That was the day I fell in love, with his art, with the way he loved, with the way he expressed himself before he fell into life’s inevitable trap. The beautiful yellowish hues that dominated his paintings, the sunflowers, the potato eaters and the starry night which comes alive in my dreams every night. Those letters he wrote his brother Theo with care, love and a pinch of attitude. That unconditional brotherly love, that aimless love he showed his friend and mentor Gauguin, that love he showed the random women he saw and paint...
