Dandelion

You are like a birdsong,

A hairball coughed up by God.

You dream of being in green gardens

And in prairies with pink sands

Amidst scraggly wildflowers and tangled ivies.

Let your quills snuggle closer, stretch your limbs;

Bend as the wind breezes past you.

As your core cracks, as you loosen your feathers

From clutching so lightly, let them go

Without the strain of reaching, but never stop caring.

Someday, a cat will gently brush you,

A beautiful girl’s finger will nudge you.

Your white blossoms will tether and scatter

And pure dew will spill from each feather

Onto the earth beneath you
