Memories of...#26DaysOfSummer #A-ZChallenge

I don't know if this one counts for a poem. My rhyming sense failed miserably as emotion took over. A stinging emotion called nostalgia. A nostalgia which is synonymous to summer itself and a lot of other sweet things.

Here goes:

What is your favorite mango memory? share it with me here, won't you? :)

A life without pencil erasers?

This morning, I got a good dose of philosophy from the newspaper. It isn’t very often that you get to read unique articles and this particular one definitely made my Friday morning a thoughtful one. It was the ‘World View’ column with the title “Pencil Erasers may be the ‘devil’” that caught my attention. It got me thinking about the process of unlearning taught to us at school. A lot of questions popped up. Why do we hide our mistakes? Why isn’t it okay to make mistakes? Why are we taught to make up for a mistake? Why aren’t we taught to look at the mistake and learn from it? Why do we erase a mistake? Why aren’t we being naturally ourselves? Why do we need an eraser? The last question is what instigated me to write this post. What if Edward Nairne had not invented an eraser by accident? What if we were never introduced to the concept of the eraser at school! I should admit that the little wad of rubber that undoes all the mistakes made by your mighty pencil is inde...

Pause. Rewind. Play.

This post is a part of   Write Over the Weekend , an initiative for   Indian Bloggers   by BlogAdda. I do not usually write a post as personal as this but I  couldn't  stop myself; got to give it to blogadda’s ‘Back in time’ for that. Not that I need an opportunity to wake up one day as a 5 year old or to go back in time; I can do the following even now. It is fact enough however that I am a grown up when I am writing about the things I’d do ‘if’ I were 5 year old. It is silly to be confining this opportunity to just a few things but I have the liberty to be silly being in the shoes of a 5 year old, right? So, without much ado, here goes my list: Image Source - Google Unwinding the reels and reels of tape from a cassette; I have killed some good music, folks! Phil Collins, I am sorry dude! I wish, I so wish I could get hold of one right now *evil grin* Just being - Yes, just being the naughty little kid I am, not trying to pl...

Dandelion

You are like a birdsong, A hairball coughed up by God. You dream of being in green gardens And in prairies with pink sands Amidst scraggly wildflowers and tangled ivies. Let your quills snuggle closer, stretch your limbs; Bend as the wind breezes past you. As your core cracks, as you loosen your feathers From clutching so lightly, let them go Without the strain of reaching, but never stop caring. Someday, a cat will gently brush you, A beautiful girl’s finger will nudge you. Your white blossoms will tether and scatter And pure dew will spill from each feather Onto the earth beneath you *Both the pictures are sourced from Google I am attempting freestyle poetry after quite sometime. Hope you guys like it! :)
