A Letter Etched in Time

I am writing a letter about how a mother teaches honesty to her child with the Max Life Insurance i-genius #YoursHonestly activity in association with BlogAdda.

Dear Chotu,

This world is a mélange of vices, clichés, traffic jams, strikes and some otherwise wonderful things. It hurts me to say that you are not in the safest of places when you step out alone. We are surrounded by the incessant insecurities of life. It might seem delusional when you grow up to know that you can’t do much to help the world. But, remember, you can always do your little something which, in turn could do a lot of good to the world around you. To begin with, you should know this - How you do anything is how you do everything. Never lose your individuality, for, that is the only real asset you have and will have forever. Don't ever doubt yourself beacause of what others say. The moment you feel like giving up is the time you should be resolved not to give up.

As you take on every stage of life, you don’t have to know the philosophy of it. You should know the simple things that make life beautiful. In all honesty, I can tell you that it is not going to be just a happy journey. The ups and downs you go through in life define you as a person. So, go ahead, put on those imaginary skateboards and be ready for the ride. When you are young, play and have fun knowing that the games you play now wouldn’t interest you when you are older. As you grow older, you get wise, learn new things, ask questions and enlighten yourself and others. Learn for yourself and never for me or dad or your school teacher or anybody else. Be a person of ideas at this stage. You will get enough time to plan and execute them in future for sure.

As you grow up, you will be molded by your deeds but be warned, some external forces in the form of people, television, society, etc. will try to influence you. The influence can turn out to be either ways for you. That is when your learning should help you. Learn to differentiate what is best for you and what you should discard. Come what may, remember these words - YOU. JUST. DO. NOT. LIE.

OK. Now comes the best part of life and my favorite advice for you. Fall in love, get married, have children and make your own little family that you will treasure for life. Enjoy this experience. Do not get into unnecessary emotional pain but do remember those things you learnt all this while. Have a little restraint too.

Consider work and passion synonymously and choose to study wisely. When you need a change, seek it. Go places and travel a lot, for, the best of time of your life could just happen anywhere in this world. Create moments to treasure when you travel, meet people, create memories. But all this while, stay rooted and remember your roots. Read love stories, PGW’s, thrillers and take some rest.  Stay blessed, always.

#Yours Honestly,
Amma

    1. hahahaha!!! SG I like your sense of humour! :):)
Btw, I 'honestly' think chotu wouldn't receive any allowance from Amma because she takes care of all of chotu's needs :D also, if one is old enough to live alone, one shouldn't be asking Amma for allowances :D :D

Thanks a lot for the comments, SG! :)

  2. I read this quote somewhere that says - Any experience, if it doesn't kill you, will only make you stronger. That in a way sums up life. So as long as kids make sure they don't get involved in things that might harm their health, they should be fine by themselves. This point is in addition to all those wonderful ones written by you.

Make Up and Me (Not Me)

They say people who don't know to dance have two left feet. Although, I might have two left feet myself, what is more interesting is I might actually have two left hands. Okay, I understand that's funny but here is why: If you are a girl or a boy or a boy who looks like a girl, you would probably know that it is a thing now to have a makeup blog or vlog or youtube channel in your name. I bumped into this world of cosmetics, beauty blogs and tutorials only a few months ago. For those who don't know about it, let me tell you, it is a crazy, ruthless and unbelievable world. Picture sourced from Google Heard of these? Snail slime masks, Placenta hair masks, Seaweed bathing creams, Microblading.... and endless other such insane stuff. These are insane but quite popular among beauty enthusiasts and they even swear by the benefits of such products. These are otherwise cringe-worthy products in my world. I use gramflour+tumeric face mask, Coconut oil hair mask and  a

Ever Yours, Vincent.

Never in a thousand years did I think I would be obsessed with a late, delusional psycho who was also an exceptional artist and a noteworthy character with a peculiar interest for romance. My affair started around 8 years back; a time when I had started writing and blogging for the first time. I visited this pop-up museum of contemporary art which showcased Vincent Van Gogh’s choicest documentaries. Many of his famous paintings were also on display. That was the day I fell in love, with his art, with the way he loved, with the way he expressed himself before he fell into life’s inevitable trap. The beautiful yellowish hues that dominated his paintings, the sunflowers, the potato eaters and the starry night which comes alive in my dreams every night. Those letters he wrote his brother Theo with care, love and a pinch of attitude. That unconditional brotherly love, that aimless love he showed his friend and mentor Gauguin, that love he showed the random women he saw and paint

The afternoon sun streamed along from the western side, casting long shadows across the table. Cyrus glanced up at Jennifer and then down at his mobile.  JJ liked Cyrus but she had a lot of questions in her mind. What was he doing? Secretly texting someone? Investigating without her help? Trying to solve something before someone else is on it? She was on this case with him. She wanted to do this for herself and for that little child and may be something more than she could comprehend. Whatever was his rationale, JJ decided to confront him. She spun herself around, sat down and found herself face-to-face with Cyrus. There was a sparkle in JJ’s eyes and Cyrus’s were menacing with thirst. Her tattoo seized Cyrus’s attention most. He was transfi
