Offspring ~ Poem ~

Screaming with vitality, Brimming with effervescence, You shine on, gazillion years away. You are not immortal, You are a dying star, Screaming for help, Brimming with consciousness of a certain death. You shine on, Giving us the confidence That there will be life After you die. Our offspring will thrive on your offspring.

[Humor] - Shopping Mall crowd - Decoded

Staring shotguns - They are everywhere, one blaring stare, followed by next. Desperate uncles, jobless shoppers, housewives, nice-looking girls, security personnel, sweeping staff, staff from branded showrooms where even a housefly would hesitate to visit and not to forget the maniacs who peep into the toilets they can’t use. Did you know that the latest fad for a picnic spot for school kids is ‘visiting an overcrowded mall? You stare like this, stranger?  Here is my answer. Digest this! Clumsy kids - Kids running around with shopping trolleys in the madding crowd are a regular phenomenon in malls, especially when their moms are busy buying lipsticks and Kajals. Some kids do acrobatics by running in the opposite side of the travelators, which makes you want to hit the kids’ careless parents heads with a hard rock. Yes, one has to blame the grownups for such unbothered attitude. I feel bad for those parents who let go of their kids and later fi...

[Home and Decor] :: Ideas for a perfect home

I have long been envisioning a place which is soulful and dreamy; a place that would like to call home .   The essentials of my idea of a perfect home are:   Family and friends – They are the soulfulness and the life of every home. They are indeed those elements that make a ‘house’ a ‘sweet home’. Can’t do without’em!                                         Space – I am stuck with this space conundrum every time I enter an under-construction building. There seems to be a gap here. There were homes in earlier days which advocated spatial freedom and now everyone seem to look for compact homes. Think about living in concrete boxes?! I understand the money-factor involved but some with enough and more are unwilling to go for a spacious place too. The heritage houses of so...

55 Fiction - The Ride

The driver set off in a rather slow pace, ironically, in a crimson-sport Lamborghini.   While adjusting the rear view mirror, he saw two people sitting in two corners of the car and exchanging glances. The Sunrise Boulevard was covered in a bed of pink Sakura flowers. A board in the car read “Just Married”. Picture sourced from google and edited

Drabble - Subordinate

The meeting ended with an eerie silence hanging in the air. “Is this true?” he asked puzzled. I nodded heavily “Yes” looking at my hand and tears brimming in my eyes. “Honestly?” "You aren't pulling my leg?" “No, I am pretty sure I want this” “and I know he will do a great job as my assistant” "You don't know what you're letting yourself in for. Do you know who he is? That's the fellow you've got to live with for a lifetime." With a wide smile I said “He is my boss at home for life” He smiled back.

The Boomerang - Of Awes and Gnaws

Awes and gnaws – this is exactly how I’d describe my time spent in Sydney. I always reckon it is not the place you live that matter, it is the people around you that do. Some people just fit tactically in your life when you badly need them like a missing puzzle piece found. They are not your friends, not your relatives, not even people you meet at work every day. They are strangers waiting to make that moment of yours memorable. A few people I met in the lil’ old granny flat in Burwood made it an unforgettable stay for me in Sydney for which I am eternally grateful. The experience was not all that pleasurable in the beginning, I turned out to be home sick which I thought I’d never be, I turned out to be not-so-social which I believed otherwise and it turned out I am Hemophobic. The Opera House - In Sepia   One particular summer day, when I was getting used to my flat (which is a small room with an attached bathroom), I heard someone knock my door. I thought...

The Mouse Trap

I started typing… Some of the keys in my keyboard popped up, Picture source - Google   In an order; as if mocking me, “ L   O   A   F   E   R ” I rubbed my eyes vigorously hoping it’d bring me back to reality. It continued, “ F    O    O    L ” this time.   I banged heavily on the keyboard, thrashing my fingers. I then reached for the mouse to shut the computer down. The mouse moved away, as if some ingenious spirit has gotten into it. Grabbing hold of its cable, I pulled; trying to keep it in place. The cable pulled away from my hands and there it lay, hanging above my head. I moved away in an impulse, not wanting to be hit by a possessed mouse. The cable started dancing in the air, making shapes. The last shape I saw was that of a folded awareness ribbon. It came closer to me; I shout out and pass out, at the same time.   Realizat...

The Boomerang - My favorite coffee place

I hope you read about the crisis in my affairs when I had arrived in Sydney .   That was just the beginning!!!   ********************************************************* A random sense of excitement, anxiety and hunger struck me. I freshened up a bit. My 14 th floor serviced apartment in Meriton had a fascinating view from the living room. It was the first time I felt so high (Literally).   You couldn’t compare it with anything, Apart from the view; the apartment had a television-set, a cozy bed, and a furnished kitchen. All that sounds sophisticated but the only thing that I didn’t have at that time was money, to get some food. Nevertheless, I had thought, wouldn’t there be bread and butter for 30 dollars?! I wandered along the pavement of Kent Street, feeling very empty and small.   Sydney is a very friendly city, I must say. I was led to a T junction, and it was another street. In ten minutes, I knew George, Elizabeth, York, Clarence and Hunter....

The Boomerang - A Pause, a reflection and…

One should not hold on to stuff that one needs to let go. I know I want to let go of a lot many things and honestly speaking, I am working on changing and that's why I am writing this series. I want to be able to release all my anxiety and just enjoy my existence. I am enjoying the process of figuring all this out. It's just takes time. Eventually I'll get my thoughts, emotions and life aligned. Too much philosophy??? Okay, I will get right to the story now!!! That' s me gulping down a burger at Sydney airport It was a bit of a drizzle when I stepped out to get a taxi. Searching for the taxi stand, I started walking. There were so many cars going out and coming in; all big ones. I couldn't figure out which a taxi was. I thought about how easy it was to spot an auto in India (Black and yellow, not so mellow). A couple of cars just drew close and stopped. Both had taxi caps!! Voila!!  I gave him the address and told him I had only US currency wit...

The boomerang series – How it came back straight at me - Sydney Airport

Kingsford smith airport was crowded that afternoon. There were people dressed in all colors, but all I could see is a time lapse effect of people moving. I shook myself deliberately to come back to reality. Source - Google Images                                                                      The harsh reality sunk in, I was in a different country... in a different continent and I saw a long (must have been a kilometer long) queue. I checked out my luggage and joined the queue as the 1000 th person. I was exhausted, I couldn’t feel my feet, my mouth was all dry and I was starving. I saw people running here and there with a bunch of papers in hand. I too carried my passport, tickets, and my immigration form. Whe...
